Sometimes we just become aware of wanting something more, to live life a little more deeply. This is a thirst for spirituality; a sense of standing on solid ground even in the ups and downs of your busy life. 

A popular Marist Book called A Certain Way offers some thoughtful ideas on the Marist Way of looking at and living life.

FINDING YOUR WAY: BEING MARY TODAY

Not to do more but to be more.

There is only one Gospel, but there are many ways of living it. Francis, Dominic and Ignatius each found a way to apply the Gospel to the needs of their age. In nineteenth-century France a group of men and women discovered another: the way Mary lived it. To be a Marist is to commit, as it were, to “being Mary today” and continuing what they called “the Work of Mary.” This is less a set of tasks than a posture of the heart — a way of thinking, judging and acting that takes Mary as its model. The invitation is gentle but radical: not to admire Mary from a distance, but to let her way of being become our own.

• Where in my ordinary day might I be invited to act not as I usually would, but as Mary would?

MARIST PRACTICE

• Begin one decision today by quietly asking, “How would Mary meet this person or this moment?”
